About The Bawdsey Radar
Bawdsey Radar was an internationally-important centre of radar innovation and technology.
It was the birthplace of operational radar in 1937, and many people believe that the Battle of Britain could not have been won without it.
Housed in the transmitter building, a state-of-the-art visitor centre and interactive exhibition tells the story – a testament to the importance of the work that went on at Bawdsey in the period preceding, during and immediately after the Second World War.
